Life is extremely complex and to some life has not always been this complex. The view of evolutionists is that life first spontaneously generated (abiogenesis) from non-life. Then the simple organism that spontaneously generated evolved different types of cells and through a long period of time mutations and natural selection occurred and life became more and more complex. Others however find this extremely hard to believe. Lets take for instance one very tiny fraction of life and examine its complexity....the human eye.
"The eye has 40,000,000 nerve endings, the focusing muscles move an estimated 100,000 times a day, and the retina contains 137,000,000 light sensitive cells."
Charles Darwin even said,
"To suppose that the eye...could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree."
If man can not create an eye then how did it merely form by chance? If not chance then, how did this so extremely complex organ evolve from a simple one-celled organism that spontaneously generated from nothing? "The eye is only a small part of the most sophisticated part of creation-the human body" and yet to some the eye evolved from essentially nothing. This is just the eye. This just not even begin to touch on the complexity of the rest of our universe. But still some hold that life was not created but it was evolved. Which do you believe?
Here are some statistics to get you to think a little more about the facts of evolution and creation.
"In the last 30 years a number of prominent scientists have attempted to calculate the odds that a free-living, single-celled organism, such as a bacterium, might result by the chance combining of pre-existent building blocks. Harold Morowitz calculated the odds as one chance in 10100,000,000,000. Sir Fred Hoyle calculated the odds of only the proteins of an amoebae arising by chance as one chance in 1040,000.…the odds calculated by Morowitz and Hoyle are staggering. The odds led Fred Hoyle to state that the probability of spontaneous generation 'is about the same as the probability that a tornado sweeping through a junk yard could assemble a Boeing 747 from the contents therein.' Mathematicians tell us that any event with an improbability greater than one chance in 1050 is in the realm of metaphysics - i.e. a miracle."
I try to make my arguments as least biased as possible but the truth is I could not find one quote from an evolutionists on this matter. It seem the avoid this issue all together. i wonder why...
There are no staggering statistics on this subject that favor evolution. All I could find were tons of sites and statistics that showed that the complexity of life did not just evolve from a simple one-celled organism. There is just no way. But please if I have overlooked something or you know of a staggering statistic in favor of evolution please let me know because I am still searching....but if not it is up to you to decide which you want to believe.

Even though the odds of life are forming are out of this world, the process of cells coming forth occurred through a long time period. The process involved the the coming together of molecules to form compounds, which eventually after a long time got complex enough to form polymers or long chains of monomers. A monomer is a single compound or unit of a polymer. I believe everything occurs through gradualism or the theory that change happen over long periods of time. The polymers eventually began coming together to form little balls called protocells, the rudimentary cells. The way these were formed has different explanations but the gist of the argument is that life formed over a long period of time, billions of years instead of a few hundred years.
Honestly I see why you haven't found that many stats about evolution because despite what many people think creation is the most likely choice. I mean come on...I what Darwin said about natural selection there are some things like you mentioned the human eye that could not have evolved from a one-celled organism. But then again your stats do not support creation of life from God, they simply recognize that something else must have been the case. But anyway I do believe that creation is what has taken place and that it is possible for something just to come to be. Well I say this referring to the religious point of view in that God said something would have life and then it would. But in your opinion what do you believe happened?

I agree with many points of your argument and have also read that quote by Darwin--in my anthropology Human Origins class that I attend right after english. The class is essentialy on evolution. And while I see the process of evolution in many animals and species as a fact, it is completley true that scientist have been unable to create life from nothing. There is no feasible explanation as to how the first cell was generated and this is the main problem with the theory of human evolution. Know one knows for sure how the first organism can to be, but I do believe that humans did evolve from it. Maybe this is so because I've read multiple books with such titles as "What is Evolution," and have read nothing to support the other side. But none-the-less I realize there are unanswered questions, and I look forward to hearing what you have to say...I'll write more later.
Joe Smith's comment that life was created over billion of years may have some merit. I disagree that is was billion of years, but I do believe it happened over a space of time.
The Bible states that God created the heavens, the land and water, animals and man in "6" days. But...what is "6" days to an almighty God...a speck of time. One of the glorious mysteries is what does time mean to God. Could 1 day be equal to 100 years or even 1,000 years?
Of course, this is based on a complete belief that the Bible is 100% correct and infalliable.
I cannot understand why intelligent people do not grasp the simplicity of a higher power setting all of life into motion! It makes a lot more sense than a "Big Bang."
To Joe Smith...In your comment you basically stated your theory of evolution...that it happened over a long period of time. But do you have any proof or any statistics that show that this might be the case? Why do you believe what you stated? You explained the gradual process but did not state any evidence for this gradualism. Yes, it is impossible to prove creation or evolution but from my research I found a lot more "facts" supporting creation.
Responding to Lauren M...You stated that you do believe that we evolved from this singularity, yet you do not know where this singularity came from. Does that mystery not worry you? You evolved from this mass of something but you do not know where it came from...there is an answer. Let’s just say that we did gradually evolve from a singularity. Where did it come from? It had to be created by something that does not have a beginning and has always existed to support the line of causation. Everything in the universe has something that has caused it to be, so what about the first cause. There has to be something that has always been in order for it not to need something to cause it. This something has to be a part of a supernatural realm since nothing in our natural world can exist forever. Many evolutionists believe that God created this singularity and then God let evolution do the rest. But creation believes God played a much bigger role in the origin of life. Read my posts and you will see why and how God played this bigger role. But for you…the singularity had to come from somewhere so why not from God?
