Holes in the Fossil Record

The last post I wrote was packed with information about the two different standpoints of of how the universe began. Since that issue has so much information, I did not have enough room to be very specific. So for this post I am going to be more specific about one issue that is a huge controversy between evolutionist and creationist. It is the fossil record.

You may think that I am jumping around a lot but I really want to present all the major controversies between the evolution and creation so for those that read all my post will know about them and be able to decide for yourself which one you think is true. If I have more time I will go back and write more post about the beginning of the universe since there is so much information to tell about just that one issue. But I want you to see the whole picture, in order to be able to choose which one you believe is true based on many parts of the evolution/creation argument not just one.

Evolutionists believe that the human race has evolved gradually, over a sixty million year time period, into what it is now. The theory is that the highly complex human race has gradually evolved from the tiny single-celled organism, the amoeba. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/protists/amoeba.shtml

For this to be true, there must be tons of transitional fossils that show the change from one organism to the next. There have been hundreds of millions fossil specimens found so there should be at least some transition specimens. But there are none. http://www.allaboutthejourney.org/fossil-record.htm So there is a big hole in the evolutionary theory. If this "macro-evolution" theory were true there should be "tens of millions of unquestionable transitional forms." http://www.allaboutthejourney.org/fossil-record.htm So, I find it hard to believe that so many people that believe in evolution over look this quite large missing fact.

Dr. Gary Parker, Ph. D. and former evolutionist said, "Fossils are a great embarrassment to Evolutionary theory and offer strong support for the concept of Creation" http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-c006.html. The fossil record actual hurts the evolutionary debate, instead of helping it, which is a major misconception that many people believe who do not put time into researching it.

"All the different, basic kinds of animals appear abruptly and fully functional in the strata - with no proof of ancestors. " http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-c006.html This statement tends to lend itself to creation. The fact that there are no transitional specimens known and that the animals appear fully functional with no ancestors adds to the long list that creation is more logical than evolution. Creations says that everything was created by the hand of God over a six day time period. No species evolved into a completely new species over time. God created everything fully functional and the only changes that have occurred since then are due to natural selection. But I will talk about natural selection in another post. If you think about it, how is it possible that our highly complex and detailed human race evolved from a tiny one-celled organism? It is not even statistically possible. Let me give you an excerpt from a website to prove this to you.

"Harold Marowitz, an atheist physicist, created mathematical models by imagining broths of living bacteria that were superheated until all the complex chemicals were broken down into basic building blocks. After cooling the mixtures, Marowitz used physics calculations to conclude that the odds of a single bacterium reassembling by chance is one in 10100,000,000,000. Wow! How can I grasp such a large statistic? Well, it's more likely that I would win the state lottery every week for a million years by purchasing just one ticket each week." http://www.allaboutthejourney.org/miracle-of-life.htm

If a bacterium can not even put itself back together how can a our so much more involved and complex race evolve from an amoeba? The quote also helps support the claim that creation is the only logical origin of life, from my last post. There is no way that life spontaneously generated then evolved into the complexity life is now. So think about these facts, read the articles if you are so inclined and decide which theory makes more sense to you. Will it be the one with a HUGE gap and missing links (evolution) or one that it much more logical?

I am not religious by traditional definition, nor am I a scientist. But how can you maintain the view that creationism by a divinity is more logical...? Science, in of itself, is founded on logic and the proving or disproving of logical hypotheses. My beliefs are are not scientific, and yet I find that the foundations that sustains the ideas behind both creationism and evolution require faith itself. Different kind of faiths, of course, yet the fanatical defense of their own theories is quite interesting.

Food for thought: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRsWAjvQSg)

In my first post I gave reasons for why intelligent design is more logical than evolution. Yes they are broad but if you keep reading this site, why I think creationism is more logical will become clearer to you. I agree that “Science, in of itself, is founded on logic and the proving or disproving of logical hypothesis.” However, nothing about evolution has been proved. Evolution is a theory. There are so many holes in the evolutionary theory that show to me that the theory is not logical at all. Creation however has answers for all of the holes in evolution. This is why I believe that intelligent design is more logical. It requires faith, but the reasons behind it make a lot more sense than the reasons behind evolution. If you have not, read my first post. I list three points that shows why the creationist view of the beginning of the universe is more logical than the evolutionist view. Is it more logical for you to believe that the extremely complex human race evolved from a singularity that one day decided to expand into the universe or that the human race was specifically designed for a cause by a being of higher intellect? Both of these theories are of course much more involved than I just stated. I will be writing an analysis post where I analyze both evolution and creation. In this post I will explain both views. After reading that post please let me know which one seems more logical to you. “How can I maintain the view that creationism by a divinity is more logical?” Because I believe it makes more sense. The reasoning behind it and the evidence point to creation not evolution. Both creation and evolution are very complex in themselves and I could write a thousand page books on both issues. So in this blog I am trying to condense the information in both theories to show how creation is more logical. So bear with me and understand that I want to show which is more logical by reasoning and evidence. I will present both sides and you can decide for yourself which one is most logical to you. I just believe that creation is more logical but you may have a different opinion. May I ask you where you think our universe came from since you seem in your response to not believe in creation or evolution?

In regards to the origin of the human race, I believe that we have evolved significantly. I do not believe in God, yet I find the possibility of a benevolent divinity, or a number of them, very comforting. Terrifying, yet vaguely comforting.

In regards to the origin of our universe... I don't know. Sometimes I think it has always been. And it may always be. What do you think of a theory equating the universe to the creator? I'd read a book on that.

Nicole said...

Well it seems to me that you have not read a book about how old the universe is...you say you believe it has always been. It has been proven that the universe does have a beginning and that point is agreed upon by creationists and evolutionists alike. As anyone can see, our universe will not be here forever. Everyday our natural resources are being depleted more and more. Our natural resources are limited; they do not replenish themselves, which means they will run out. So when you say you think the universe has always been and may always be you might want to think again. For your own sake do some research so you can be sure of what you believe instead of just thinking that you believe it. There is a lot of information out there that shows our universe does have a beginning. I mean come on, the fact that the universe does have a beginning is one of the few if not the only fact that creationists and evolutionists agree on.

That really depends on what you clasify the universe as. If you are talking about the big bang, then you are talking about a singularity of matter that exploded into all the galaxies and stars. But does the big bang explain the vacume that the galaxies exist within? Maybe, according to some scientists, as time and space they say are inter-related, but these are again only theories. One major problem with the big bang is that it assumes that all gravity eventually pulles everything into one singularity, causing a giant universal supernova in essense. But they know now that instead of the masses of the universe shooting out into nowhere slower and slower until their eventual and gradual return to the center singularity... all that matter is in fact speeding up and heading away from us faster and faster. This is a big problem that has led to theories about black matter. Just the same it doesn't mean that the big bang didn't happen necessarily. It does mean we need a new reason for how that might have happened. And it also means we should be more open to other theories, but usually theories are scientific, and creationism is not. There can be no observation by which to prove or disprove its hypotysis, there can be no tests or controls. Even though it is NOT scientific, I can not disprove that GOD did NOT in fact create everything. I even go as far as saying it is currently the best solution to our lack of understanding. But that doesn't mean that something more meaningful wont come around in the future. Certianly these theories would be quite astounding to people even 100 years ago.

One thing I like about creationism is that it says there are holes in the fossil record. That is super interesting though I haven't looked at it too much in depth. The thing I thought scientists were able to show though was how old the earth was. I thought they knew that the planet was older than 6000 years pretty much for sure, since they've found fossils, isolated though they may be older than this by far. How do creationsists adress this issue?
